So, another Alexander movie huh?... Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures bring groundbreaking, Oscar® - nominated filmmaker Baz Luhrmann's vision of the life of one of history's figures to the screen - Alexander the Great. The film stars Academy Award® nominee Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role and Oscar® winner Nicole Kidman as Olympia, Alexander's mother and one of the most iconic figures of the ancient age, who figures prominently in motivating her son's fate. Produced by the Dino De Laurentiis Company, Alexander the Great is written by Ted Tally (Red Dragon) and Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge) and is slated for location filming in Australia.

Well the movie by Oliver Stone sucked so maybe this one by Baz Luhrmann's will be better, or at least i hope so.

This is suicide. This movie will tank just because they just had the other movie open a while back. Just seems stupid to me.. He should have scrapped this when he had the chance.

^This is going to be one of those movies that just won't work. People already heard about Alexander with Colin Farrel, and now they are going to see him as Leo DiCaprio? Don't think so...

I mean, it's acceptable to do a movie with the same story but like 30 years away from each other. This is going to be one or maybe less than a year...I wonder what they are thinking.
I guess that if they didn't decided to scrappe it was because they have a really, really nice surprise or something...but I can't think of what kind of thing that might be...

They would have started unaware of each other, and been released at the same time by an unlucky coincidence. A bit like the whole Psi-Ops/Second Sight fiasco.

The reason that this may not work doesn't have to do with the fact that this movie may be better- you always get the good sides of critics on previews. It probably won't work, because we have already seen an Alexander movie get hyped up and than we saw how much it sucked... Why would we want to see another movie about the same thing? Especially a year after the other....
