Right now New Line and Mirimax are doing battle for the rights. Jackson said he has been aproached by both studios about making the film. He said he will make it and hopes to create the same feel as LOTR. Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis both said they will to reprise their roles as Gandalf and Gollum. Ian Holm may play Bilbo, but Jackson is considering casting a younger actor. Orlando Bloom may also return to play Legolas. Legolas was never mentioned by name in The Hobbit, they called him the prince of mirkwood if I remember correctly.

sounds good. cant wait. anyone see the mtv award thingy with stiller and wilson i think it was who were talking to jackson telliung him to get to tolkein to make more books for more movies for more money lol and they were saying ring him up. then there was a poster of sam and frodo and the movie was called sam and frodo implying a gay affair. gota love gay hobbits lol

you know that sounds really funny, them saying that jackson should ring up tolkien to make more books, but we all have to remember one thing.
lord of the rings and the hobbit was created in like the 40's tolkien is dead.
so are many other writers that didnt live to see their creations made into films.
