The Title says it all... Metallica is THE best Rock/Metal band of all time!!! I do have to admit though, some of their recent songs are not up to par with their old stuff My favorite songs are (in no particular order): Until it sleeps Nothing Else Matters No Leaf Clover The Unforgiven The Unforgiven II Call of Ktulu And a few others that are just music and no singing that (OMG!!!), I can't remember the name of, off hand. What do you think, guys? METALLICA METALLICA METALLICA!!!

I kinda agree with Geddy Lee. I won't object to them but they aren't the best out. And their more recent stuff does indeed suck. They credited Linkin Park, how low can they go? They need to pull it back.

Wasn't there a Metallica thread already? Well, maybe GT deleted it....
Anyways...for me, they'll always be the best band in the world....
The only album that I can do without is St. Anger...for the rest...they're all pure greatness (except the Loads, which are just good)
My favorite songs:
1. Fade to Black 2. Master of Puppets 3. One 4. Damage Inc. 5. For Whom the Bell Tolls?
And well, basicaly...all their '80s stuff....Seek and Destroy, Hit the Lights, Fight Fire with Fire, Call of Ktulu, Battery, Creeping Death, Blackened...etc..
And the songs you Neo Vegeta was referring to, I think are Orion and To Live is to Die.
I also like some stuff from the Loads...Fuel, Until it Sleeps, Hero of the Day, Mama Said, Bleeding Me, Outlaw Torn, The Memory Remains, The Unforgiven II, Low Man's Lyric, Devil's Dance. And their covers from the Garage Inc. album: Whiskey in the Jar, Turn the Page, Tuesday's Gone, etc.
And their best cover of all: [glow=red,2,300]So What?[/glow]
BTW...did you all know that James Hetfield can't read musical notes?

BTW...did you all know that James Hetfield can't read musical notes? Are you serious??? If he can't then it's pure talent, just like I said.

yes, I'm serious....I have the S&M DVD, where he talks about a time when Michael Kamen (R.I.P.) asked him if he knew certain song in A or C or something like that and he just laughed and said "I don't know what the hell you're talking about man.."
In the documentary in that DVD he explains that the guys from the San Francisco Symphony were all amazed by Metallica's song, they couldn't believe they had written it...and it also showed that Metallica was even more amazed by the symphony members being amazed...like James Hetfield said: "those songs were written by just pure innocence".

St. Anger was pretty weak. All of their stuff pre 90's was great though, especially ...And Justice For All.

Hm...I didn't know about him not being able to read music. Then again, I never did much Metallica research. It's actually quite common, but rare for it to be a brilliant song writer like himself. I think Billy Corgan couldnt read music either... Or maybe Kirk helped him with that sort of stuff because I know that he knew his sh*t.

Metallica fan since I could recognize music (17 years of Metallica) and I still consider them my favorite. Their sound is just in a place of its own, unique yet imortalized. In the words of Jim Bruer, no matter what you do for living or how old you are, if you are a true fan, its always....

I respect them, and St. Anger isn't HORRID, it just seems mediocre compared to their earlier works. I think I like...Ride the Lightning (the album) the best. Maybe. Depends. I was 11 years old when I first heard them, and this is how the story goes. ;P I was riding in my oldest sister's car, when this boy named Kinzie was her boyfriend. Suddenly I heard this epic, strange, and powerful song. I asked what it was. Kinzie said "This is f*ckin' Metallica, man!" and the song he said was "Enter Sandman." I went home and downloaded it off Napster....remember old school Napster, everyone? Ahh......memories.

No...It's definetely not horrid...horrid would be Simple Plan...
St. Anger is just far from Metallica's true capabilities.

You gotta admit though, even though ST. Anger lacked a lot of thought in the writing, it's still hella better than some other bands' best stuff.

I agree...I take it over any Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, or Slipknot album for example.
Anyways...does anybody have any info on the Metallica videogame coming up? It's supposed to come out this year...from what I understand.
