Among the bands I like, no band can touch Slayer in heaviness.

Hmm...I've listened to a lot of heavy bands...there was this one called Nevermore...and there's also all that Children of Bodom kinda things... I haven't heard Children of Bodom, actually, but there's this metalhead that I've met that listens to anything REMOTELY hard and then some, so.....I'm just pulling names that I've heard him say. Mostly, whenever I hear a "very hard" song, I listen to about half of it then hit "skip". I don't like to hear metal when I'm awake, I usually use it to sleep. Call me a weirdo, but Megadeth makes me very soothed..

Arenn't you the one who likes Death metal? I thought you'd vote for something like Emperor. I was deeply dissappointed when I first heard Megadeth. They're nowhere near as heavy as they're cracked up to be. Neither are Slayer.

I'm a classical kinda person, thanks I like Seraphim though, if you could call them any sort of metal. I don't really care for especially hard bands, when you can't even understand what the hell they're saying.

Strange. I could have sworn you once said you liked death metal. Must've been someone else.

I like melodic metal. Like, organs and such. A la Moi Dix Mois. I usually can't stand anything that doesn't have a melody you can follow. I like music, not noise.
There are some exceptions...but not many.

Pantera is a pretty heavy band also. But they aren't just noise, they can sound pretty catchy sometimes

Yeah, I love Pantera. And that's exactly the best thing about them. They can be really, really heavy withoug being just noise.
Bands like Slipknot have to rely on noise to be heavy.

Define heavy.

"Heavy" in music cannot be defined. It's just something you know in your gut. I've made a scale of how heavy music is using examples. There are five levels:
Level 1: Placebo, Sum 41, Blink 182 etc. Level 2: Muse, Linkin Park, Evanescence Level 3: Metallica, Lostprophets, Judas Priest Level 4: Slayer, Slipknot, Rammstein Level 5: (only one example so far, I'm not really into music this heavy) Killswitch Engage
Obviously, level 1 is the lightest, while level 5 is the heaviest.
