Being immortal would be cool to start with, but come the apocalypse things won't look so good. The problem is that in being immortal, you can't really appreciate that you wil be here forever. Not a thousand years. Not ten thousand years. FOREVER. And eventually it would be like you were imprisoned inside your own life, and there is no way out. Ever. And it would just get worse and worse, and it would never end. What you have to remember is that we are talking in terms of infinity here. It doesn't end.

I think DarkPrince has the beggining of a good point there. In that if you would live forever, you would very likely take life for granted. You would procastinate and delay, with the illusion of having all the time in the universe. And while you would, nothing else would. And you would get nowhere.
