it's that time of year again and the MLB is right around the corner. this will be interesting season considering the issues with steriods, if the yankees can win a world series with their over-paid team, and if the red sox can possibly defend their championship. so what's your guys' picks for this season? i'll start out with mine (your guys' don't have to be as detailed if you want though): AL Central1. White Sox 2. Twins 3. Tigers 4. Indians 5. Royals AL East1. Red Sox 2. Yankees 3. Orioles 4. Devil Rays 5. Blue Jays AL West1. Angels 2. Rangers 3. Mariners 4. Athletics NL Central1. Cardinals 2. Cubs 3. Astros 4. Reds 5. Brewers 6. Pirates NL East1. Braves 2. Mets 3. Marlins 4. Phillies 5. Nationals (formely Expos) NL West1. Giants 2. Dodgers 3. Padres 4. Diamondbacks 5. Rockies ALCSRed Sox vs. Yankees NLCSBraves vs. Cardinals World SeriesBraves vs. Red Sox WINNER: Braves in 6 games some of you might think i'm crazy for pickin the red sox over the yankees, but i think it can happen. the yankees team is bought by a millionaire, not meshed together as a true team. plus, their season will be overshadowed by steriod use accusations. i just feel that the red sox will ahve the same winning attitude and teamwork they had last season. but, i think they won't win another championship this year. i look to see the braves taking it since their pitching staff has been bolstered and their lineup is better from last season's as well. who knows, the unexpected could happen, like the white sox winning it all! but realistically, i see the braves winning it all

hmmm...those are interesting picks...but I always prefer to see how they start before I make my predictions...I really feel like the White Sox winning their division is rare to happen, even though it could happen.
For now, the team I'm putting my hopes on are the Mets...but I have to wait until the season begins so I can make picks that will probably be more accurate...believe me, I've made really accurate predictions in the past... ;D

well, i always make my pics before the season happens, jsut the way i've always done it. as for the white sox, i'm picking them right now because they look better on paper than the twins do. but with most of their power hiters gone in a hitter-friendly ballpark, their pitching HAS to come through. if not, the twins will win again. as for the mets, it's gonna be tough for them. in a stacked division they're gonna have a hard time. i may ahve predicted them second, but i think it's gonna be an uphill abttle for them

NLCS Cardinals vs Astros World Series Bluejays vs Astros Winner:Astros in 7
Some of you might think I'm nuts thinking the Bluejays will make the playoffs but i have a gut feeling and the Yankees will lose in the first round of the playoffs. Astros i think will win world series since its Clemens last year. Who knows though the unexpected could happen.

Pretty good pics..........but i think the Orioles have a better chance then the Blue Jays do. They just lost their best player so they would need a miracle to be able to come in second place. As for winning the world series......i don't think they have a good enough rotation to win it. But who knows...........

yea, the astros rotation ain't all that it was. plus, i just don't think the blue jays will contend at all. of course he unexpected could happen, but i definitely don't think it'll happen. i think the yankees will go far into the playoffs because their team is stacked. but we've seen in the past 4 world series, teamwork wins, not how big your payroll is

Yea i hate that payroll they have. lol its to high camparing that to the Bluejays payroll is like pocket change to the Yankees.

i know, but there are good and bad aspects to the payroll. the bad is that small market teams like the white sox, a's, etc, can't as competitvely compete as teams like the yankees and red sox do. free agents are swayed by multi-million dollar contracts and won't usually sign with a team that has a $50 million payroll. but the upside is that the owners that spend are the owners that care about winning. guys like the red sox manager want to win so bad, that they'll keep spending money. but then there's teams like the white sox, where their GM, jerry riensdorf, is a stingy bastard. what i wish for in a perfect world is that al owners stop giving into greed and start actually trying to win

are we talkin about the blue jays here? but i know what you mean. owners can be real a-holes sometimes. they'll be in a rebuilding stage for 5 years because they don't feel like spending any money

definitely, that's why i hate when people say it's a business. i guess it sorta is, but first and foremost it's a game. the purpose of layin a game is to WIN. some owners are toog reedy to realize that and their teams will be in the hole for years until drastic changes are made
