I agree about the teamwork over money ideal, but the Yanks have won a LOT of world series's..i think it was them...and i think I heard that once. but i digress. Even though they are a money first team, they do win a lot. which isnt surprising, if you think about it. And yes, i had to play devils advocate. but back to my original point. Team chemistry matters when it counts, but money usually will get you to the point where it will count. IE, money will get you to the playoffs, but team chemistry is needed to actually be able to win. YES, this is a BROAD GENERALIZATION, but about 60% of the time its true, so i dont care. i understand what you mean, you do need money to win, but i think stienbrennr goes a bit overboard. it's not fair to small-market teams who get free agents stolen away from them becuase they can't afford them. that' why i wish baseball had a salary ca of about $80-$100 million. i think the yankees is over $250 million. as for SI's picks, they seem to be pretty accurate. i'm not surprised they picked the yankees to win though and remember strong bad, no double posting

With the egos now days for big name players, and its all about the money for them, if they want to jump ship for more money, i say go ahead and let them. It only shows that theyre in the game for money more so than the love of it itself. and umm...you wouldnt believe that wasnt me, would you? probably not..yeah, my mistake.

nah, it's all right. but the salary cap would be good for teams like the devil rays or brewers. it's like they can't even contend with their payrolls. millwaukee's is only about $28.5 million. there's guys on the yankees with their own contracts higher than that

True, true, but then there would probably be a lot of PA and Owners disagreeements, top stars would feel underpaid, take there business to another country, and wed PROBABLY be left with 15 man teams. Worst case scenario. But i doubt that would happen. Never know with the egos players have now days though. But i do know one thing: down with the DH!

I wouldn't be surprised if they had a fight like the NHL did about being overpaid of underpaid so a think a salary cap would do a lot of damage to the mlb.

well, yes, the ballplayers could fight like the NHL players, but they have to remember that baseball is a game before a business. and unforutnaetly it's true that many of baseball's top stars are way to greedy. maybe we'd be better off without some of the more greedy ones

very true..but i have an idea for the NHL..
FROM EA GAMES:
NHL STREET
Your a hobo. You must make a living by robbing banks with a hockey stick and puck. Good luck.
And now:
MLB STREET
Same as above, but using a baseball bat, glove, helmet, a baseball itself.
But yeah, those greedy people can go and die...er....be less greedy.

lol, nice ideas. ;D but yea, greed runs too rampant in baseball, and all other sports as well. too bad it's not like the days of old when people would play solely for the love of the game
