Auburn Plays Virginia Tech Hokies no Utah
i know...d*mn YOU BCS!! they had a chance to correct their mistake, a chance to make it better
instead, Auburn is being screwed out of a shot at teh national championship...their only hope is an OU field-goal victory, and then Auburn blowing the hell out of V. Tech..they could split it that way....but, its not going to happen..
the BCS is trying to fix last years problem, and caused another problem that they will fix next year...
OU shouldnt have been last year, and USC shouldnt be this year...allow me to elaborate: if the AP/Coaches polls hadnt been preseason, and instead started a month in (like the BCS poll), then Auburn would have been in the Top 10, with USC at 1 and OU at 2.
Starting with the Oct. 9 game, USC had just come out of a close call at Stanford, and had proceeded to nearly lost to Cal., while Auburn and OU had decent margins of victory, also coming off of big wins vs. Tennessee and Texas Tech, respectively.
USC then went most of the distance, almost losing to Oregon State and UCLA.
OU nearly lost to Ok. State and Texas A&M in the following weeks.
Auburn beat the rest of their opponents all by at least 8 points. The only game they came close to losing was against LSU. And they beat Tenessee TWICE, something largely unheard of against a good Tenn. team.
OU won their conference championship game against Colorodo by 39, although colorodo is not taht great, 39 points is still A LOT.
Auburn beat Tennessee a second time in their conference championship by a 10 point margin.
USC played NO conference championship, instead they played UCLA, who they beat by only 5.
So, to recap, games almost lost (almost being 8 pts or less, because thats a one score game):
USC- 4 (Stanford, California, Oregon State, UCLA)
OU- 2 (Oklahoma State, Texas A&M)
Auburn- 2 (LSU, Alabama)
Looking at that info, if those polls had started Oct. 9, USC probably would have dropped to 3 by the end, leaving OU vs. Auburn, which by all means, it probably should be. Though a lot of people can argue that OU plays next to no ones, and that USC played good teams (proven by how many games they nearly lost), no one can truthfully say that Auburn didnt deservre a spot in the Championship game. They beat a great georgia team by 18, Tennesse by margins of 24 and 10, and Alabama by 8. I know, I know, Alabama is not that great of team, but they are in-state rivals. The Iron Bowl. They look forward to this game most of the year. If either team can only win one game, they will try and win this one.
Now, those are just from what i have been able to gather.
If you disagree, please explain y, as i want to hear both sides, and thats kind of hard living down in SEC-territory
oh, and i predict that the BCS will try and fix THIS next year, and screw someone else.
