Maybe Im sure that people that have seen booty call would never expect to see Jamie Foxx winning an Oscar for portraying the late great Ray Charles. Jamie Foxx isn't Keanu Reeves and Ray isn't Cowboy Bebop: The Live-Action Movie. Yeah thats everyones reaction, everybody wants a new guy to play their favorite anime characters because they think they will do such a perfect job, will look just like the character, and make the movie so true to the anime. Uh...I've seen just as many people call for well-known actors to play roles like the ones you mentioned. But if you look at it from a Hollywood approch Big or known Actors have a bigger fan base than a new guy combine that with the movies already Big name in this case CB. I personally think that roles like Spike, Goku, Yusuke, guys like that should be played by experienced actors. Don't get me wrong - I'm not opposed to the idea of famous actors playing lead roles in live-action anime adaptions, I just know Keanu would make a horrible Spike Spiegel. Even if he were a versatile actor, his age would still be a huge issue.

Who cares for the age, if you do then all the people everyone is mention for the dragon ball z movie wouldn’t work. And hate to break it too you, but he doesn't look too old, and I don’t even think he’s over 40. I think the guy got good enough skills to play this simple scene/actor of Spike. It’s not that hard to play him, since you did just describe his whole character in a mere paragraph. I think he looks and can act like spike if you just give him the chance to show off his skills. I haven’t seen you place a better actor on here to play Spike, so when you have something in your mind, show it, because now I think Reeves is the man to play Spike’s role, maybe you can change my mind.

You're kidding me, right? Keanu is over 40 and his recent string of insipid performances has done nothing to suggest that he has the versatility necessary to transcend his age. (On the other end of the "old fart" spectrum are guys like Johnny Depp, a guy who's giving fantastic and diverse performances at right about the same age as Keanu - in effect, revealing Keanu to be the hack he really is.) Is that really the kind of guy you want playing a youthful, spunky, charming, extremely complicated 27-year-old? if you do then all the people everyone is mention for the dragon ball z movie wouldn’t work. Most of the suggestions fans are making are ridiculous anyway. And hate to break it too you, but he doesn't look too old, and I don’t even think he’s over 40. It's about more than looks, and yes, he's over 40. I think the guy got good enough skills to play this simple scene/actor of Spike. It’s not that hard to play him, since you did just describe his whole character in a mere paragraph. You have a terribly flawed and superficial conception of Spike's psyche. I would think anyone who's seen a healthy number of episodes from the series would understand that he's more than a "simple scene/actor" (whatever that means), and is actually a, as the behind-the-scenes section of the Cowboy Bebop: The Movie DVD puts it, "complex soul." Consider the ways in which he balances his perpetual interest in existentialism with an air of cool complacency. Simplistic characters tend to handle their problems in more "obvious" ways, sticking with one ( maybe two or three) emotional aesthetics and conveying traits, motivations, beliefs, etc. through the lense of these aesthetics. Spike, on the other hand, has a wealth of different "sides," all of which make sense because the characterization in the series of so spot-on and, dare I say, brilliant. Casting Keanu as Spike would be tantamount to saying, "Hey, you know what? All those misconceptions about how the series is just a shallow piece of wankery were actually grounded in truth, for this movie - an encapsulation of the series - rests on the shoulders of a man who excels at putting style over substance." I haven’t seen you place a better actor on here to play Spike, so when you have something in your mind, show it, because now I think Reeves is the man to play Spike’s role, maybe you can change my mind. I've already provided a cast list in this thread, and I chose Jake Gyllenhaal as my man of choice.

Oh well lets face the facts Im pretty sure alot of you dont think Keanu would be good for it, I do but if the CB movie was ever made into live action and Keanu went out for the role he would get it because he would probably be the only big name actor to do so, not to mention that Im sure he could pull off spike who isnt a very hard character to play. Also what is it with you people and age, so what if Keanus 40 he sure doesnt look it, I bet you guys didnt know Halle Berry is very close to 40, Brad Pitt is like 42 or 43 and George Cloony is like almost 50. In hollywood 40 is like the new 20.

*bangs head on table* You people are impossible. That can go both ways. I think I found the perfect choice for Vicious Benicio Del Toro- Vicious- If you questioning his acting go watch Sin City.

hey guys, i've got a suggestion for spike. i thought for a long while and this guy is the closest match i've come up with. Casper Van Dien if you guys don't know who he is, i'm sure you're thinking he's a bit of a pretty boy, but he's got a lot of character in his face. i've seen a few of his movies and he can play spike's care-free smart@ss attitude really well. jus seems kinda natural for him heh
