Well, Japan and the US have laid their hands on the DS, now its Europe's turn, last as usual... So at long last Nintendo will grace us with its unique handheld that will tempt you away from your GBA's. Starting from 11th March you will be able to get your hands on the DS. Here's some info: The Nintendo DS, Nintendo's latest handheld, provides users with a unique game-play experience using features never before offered by any other home console or hand-held game system. This portable personal entertainment and communications unit provides owners with new perspectives on dual screens, new control using both touch and voice, and new connections with two kinds of wireless game play. It's a newfound canvas on which developers can express their creativity. Features: Dual Screens: Two backlit LCD screens let you see the action from different perspectives. Touch Screen: The lower screen offers PDA-like touch capabilities, offering an unprecedented level of in-game control. Wireless: No more link leads! Play against up to 16 players through thin air! Microphone: An in built microphone allows games to react to sound! Dual Slots: The DS has a slot for the new DS cartridges as well as a slot for GameBoy Advance games.

Even though Europeans may be last in getting there hands on a Nintendo DS. In the end it will actually prove positive for them, as many more quality titles will be available for there launch than what was available for the Japan, North America, Australia launches.

Not to mention, any defective flaws in the models may be caught before being released. Therefore, giving Europe a better quality product.

Must say DS hasnt really got any games that interest me enough to buy one at the moment. I had a brief go of Wario Ware which was a fun game but not what i go for... Hopefully when the software picks up a bit i may be tempted to buy one, but for now, I should have my PSP next week imported from the US.

Just watch out for the shooting discs. LOL Yeah, I think the DS has Super Mario 64 DS and Pictochat which is supposed to be cool, but otherwise I'm a little lost on the games. A lot of them seem to be coming out this summer.

The games are coming...really great games at that. The challenging part though is waiting for them to release. Square has announced great support for the DS, we know of awesome upcoming Nintendo 1st party titles such as Mario, Metroid, Zelda, Pokemon and the usual system selling suspects. But there is also the major edition of the upcoming free online DS service that is sure to bring in alot of business for the DS and on top of all this are the pledges of over 150 developers to develop for DS. So hold on people, the good times are about to roll!

I just hope some developers will use DS to its full potential and not use the other screen for maps...

Time for a Nintendo DS News Update: Sales As far as sales figures are concerned the DS has been a huge success for Nintendo. Over the past few months the DS has set record numbers in both Australia and Europe. Combined with the 2 million units sold in America alone, the DS has sold approximately 4 million units to date since its 4 month launch, which is a great performance. Online Movement The new issue of Nintendo Power has confirmed that the online server for the Nintendo DS will be handled by Gamespy. The system will allow for free wireless gameplay on your DS. Which means you'll be playing 8 players all around the world on your DS by the end of the year. Electronics Gaming Monthly adds that they expect the first online title, Mario Kart DS, to be released as soon as this June! Newly Announced Titles 1. Goldeneye: Rougue Agent DS Apologies for the poor resolution. It looks much better in the magazine. Imagine your looking at a Hi-Resolution version of Goldeneye 64 and that should fix things. 2. Age of Empires DS www.gamesarefun.com/games/ds/ageofempires/aoe02.jpg[/img]Once again...excuse the poor screen visibility. 3. Need for Speed Undeground 2 DS4. Katamari Damarcy DSNo Screenshot Included 5. Baten Kaitos DSNo Screenshot Included 6. Xenosaga DSNo Screenshot Included *The above were all mentioned and confirmed in the latest issue of Nintendo Power. Along with the news of a brand new strategy game being developed for the DS by Hironubu Sakaguchi (Final Fantasy creator): As we become closer and closer to E3, DS information should only get better. Stay Tuned!

Not bad at all. Nice to here some new details about DS online. I think its vital Nintendo get the online just right. I recently played Twisted Metal online for PSP and its a blast. Its simple to use and great to be able to play online on a handheld. I cant wait to see how Mario Kart plays online as its always been top of my wish list. Should be amazing.
As for the new games, i dont really see anything special. The 2nd screen isn't really being used effectively again which is a shame. Hopefully 3rd party developers will find some inovating ways to use it in the near future.

LOL, maps... No J/K! Actually, the online stuff sounds great. However, I'm not sure why Nintendo didn't just start off with a ton of online games.
