*blinks* Oh. Wow. Samurai. I wonder what the samurai would think about us talking about their ways. Well, they can't hear, carry on

^LMAO Yeah- I have wondered how you could be studying something that hasn't been in existance over 100 years... Being good with swords does not make you a Samurai. The Samurai were a group of people who defended their home against the people who were threatening the lives that they held dear. Training wasn't even training to them- it was a way of life. They didn't fight in things like K1 for spectators...

^He is- very cool. I told him about this thread. He was laughing like an insane man, lol. I believe his exact words were- "SAMURAI?? Are they stoned? LMAOTMFH!!! Never again! There is no such thing as the "art of the Samurai". You can never make someone from the now into something that is non-existent.." I also told him about what Hieislove said about people in America buying their own swords. He said that that was bull- they buy swords in Japan too. But, he got his sword from his mentor. They started off with wooden swords, but when he proved himself, he got the gold... And, studying swords does mean that you have to learn to predict your apponents next move by watching their movements- just like any other martial art. When you are fighting with a weapon such as a sword, you don't have time to focus and to find a weak spot- you need to teach yourself how to anticipate what is about to happen, and than to act upon it.

Your friend thinks the same way I do... And the same way as my dad.

A part of that was my friend- the other part is just me... We both kind of think alike when it comes to martial arts, and what it all means...

Fair enough. I must think the same as you then. ;D
Why are all warrior cultures dead? There is no place for them in this modern world forged on money and deceit.

I can walk in a store today and come out with an sword, but in Japan ,if your master sees that you shall be punish, dont question me on Japan and samurai, I'm FROM Japan and live for the samurai You misunderstood when I said study, I didnt mean study the sword, I meant study whom your fighting. Samurai isnt a rush martial arts, all that movie crap were you just run and attack is bull. In some fights the two warriors walk around each other in a fight til one sees a spot then attacks. If a true match if you rush, you will get stab. Reflex you mean, I am learning about the human body, there are no reflexs, its a word that sportsman use as an excuse, you do what you do no I hit then you hit and say its reflex, you wanted to hit and in Samurai training , focusing is the first thing you learn

You should mind yourself. ________________________________ Now this is to no one just wish to say it. Another thing I want to say about the samurai is you got to actually be into swords and dont let the sword scare. When I first got my sword I was paniced that the sword will hit my left side of my head when I swing a certain way. My sensei says the more scare I am , the vaster the chances are on actually getting hit. So I took a blind fold, what I cant see, cant scare me , right? Well it worked for me ,but I got punished my sensei said that was a foolish thing for me to do. He stated that I could of got hurt since I just recieved a real sword. He said that he wouldnt know what to do if I were to get hurt or worst , die. He explain the natures of a samurai. He said. (its alittle different since the translation from Japanese to english) "You cant do stupid things like you just did, it will get you hurt. I know it seems brave but not always does the brave act is the right act. Kyodo-chan you just got the sword, of course you're going to be scared, but thats what bushido is all about to learn your weakness and train on it. Kyodo, I can see you want to be the best. Its visible in your faces. But if you take your time and train you can be the best." Then after that I replyed "But Sensei didnt you told me before , when you want something get it, and do anything to get it. Well, I wanted not to be scared so I blind fold myself." After I said that my sensei was speechless. Well not quite since he did say this "Kyodo...only if everyone would think like you..." After that I was set out of punishment due to the fact of my samurai spirit thing. Man I love my sensei and remembering all the good times. Now that story shows, what you want, get it and do anything to get it. Meaning if you want to be strong, train. If you want to be the fastest , train. For me, I am very fast (Hiei is my hero ) , not much of very strong though I am strong and my punches really hurt since from the speed there coming at. Though i depend on my speed in a fight I still train in strength

Well i know i am not a samurai. I am a swordsman. You might think it is the same thing but it isnt. I do things differently than a "samurai". Like everytime i go to bed i either bilndfold myself or put cotton balls in my ears followed by ear muffs covering up my ears so i can train my hearing and sight senses. I have been doing this for about a year. I havent been afraid of anything or anyone besides myself. Even though i use Japanese swords and use to follow Japanese sword techniques, that doesnt make me a "samurai". I am just mearly a swordsman that hasnt found his limits. Thanks anyways for your words of encouragement.
