Saw a couple episodes of this, seemed pretty nice.
Released in 1996 the epic tale of Escaflowne is filled with vibrant characters and spectacular action scenes. Escaflowne follows jaded high school student Hitomi Kanzaki as she is transported from her everyday life to a world of Gaea. The fantasy world of Gaea is in turmoil as the White Dragon Clan under the leadership of the brave swordsman Van battles his evil brother Folken who heads the Black Dragon Clan. Transported to this strange world Hitomi is believed by the inhabitants of Gaea that she is the "Wing Goddess" they have been waiting for. Her ability to control the mecha suit of armor Escaflowne reinforces her status of being the "Wing Goddess". Van and Hitomi befriend strong allies while being chased by determined enemies. Together they seek a way to save Gaea from Folken and unlock the mysteries of Escaflowne.

I love Escaflowne. This is my favorite series. It has everything, style, action, romance, comedy, mystery, fully realized characters, character development, mecha, fantasy, sci-fi, ect. As one reveiwer said, "These are all elements we have seen before, but never all in one show or this well presented."

I agree, even DBZ was missing romance a little.

I finally meet someone who realizes this. I have a hard time explaining to several hardcore dbz fans that with the exeption of Gohan and Videl all of the romance is between sagas. (Those times when it skips ahead a few years and someone got married in that time.) I guess that Krillen and 18 started something during the cell sagas, but it wasn't much.

ypu, and I think Goku and Chi Chi only kissed once in the entirety of DBZ. Could be wrong.
