So, I decided to make this poll again with a new choice and see who wins now. The first vote will be mine and it goes to Angus Young.

Thats a hard question, I honestly dont know who the best guitarist is, so I didnt vote, they are all good.....
But I do know who the best bass player is, and its by far Mat Freeman from Rancid.

Ok this subject is very controversial to me because saying “who is the best guitarist of all time” is a little shady and can be confusing. At first I would read that and think…Its Steve Vai (duh). Why? Because that guy can play ANYTHING, and I mean ANYTHING…He’s technically awesome and insane with his knowledge of music theory. But, there is one problem…A lot of his music…well…stinks . So this brings us to a new question that is “sound” over “technique”. Also this could or should be “Who is the greatest ROCK guitarist of all time” Because I might be inclined to write that Adrés Segovia (classical dude) is the best, because he kinda is IMO. Ok that being said I make my decision based on “sound” over “technique“…and who had the most influence and innovation on the guitar, and guitarists in general. So…Hendrix, hands down *I’m not worthy*, is the greatest. Ever. “Hendrix challenged guitarists to explore a wild new world of tones and textures, dazzling and founding guitar greats like Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Pete Townshend, who still revere Hendrix as if he were the Messiah. Other players before might have experimented with feedback and excessive distortion, but Hendrix turned those practices into an art form.”- guitar magazine There is just something supernatural about the way he played…you could try for years and years and you’d never be able to capture his…“sound”. He just evoked so much d**n…everything…with his instrument, its insane. His rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” at Woodstock is a prime example of how much thought and meaning he put into every d**n note…You could actually hear the screams and bombs when he played that… It was probably one of the best protest songs I’ve ever heard. And it had no lyrics. The man was a musical genius and way more innovative and influential than anyone on that list, inspiring countless musicians to this day…he was just way beyond his time. I’d also like to tell people to listen to more blues than metal if you‘re really interested in the guitar. Because most of that great playing you’re hearing in metal is just the same notes over and over, with continuous hammer-ons and pull-offs, while running through a scale or two…playing fast doesn’t mean sh!t to be great. Take David Gilmour’s solo in “Time” for example, it isn’t fast or complex at all, but his note selection and placement is just flawless…squeezing maximum emotion out of it all. Bleh…this whole thing is questionable once again…it’s a matter of preference, but at the same time it isn’t when you make a statement like that. Anyway… It saddens me that some people don’t take the time to really broaden their musical scope. So whatever…I’m not gonna beat it into you that Hendrix is the greatest…because he just is to me. Whew, that was long...

I changed the name of the topic coz I see you are 100% right. I just don't think about classical music when I think about the best of all time. So the poll was actually intended to ask: Who is the best hard rock guitarist of all time? But I think that most of you had got the point without needing an explanation, but it's unfair to call just the best hard-rock guitarist the best of all time.

I myself would call this topic 'Your Favourite Rock Guitarist Of All Time'.

Well, one's favorite is different from who you think is the best. I say the best is Angus Young but my favorite is Kirk Hammet (you can guess why)

But don't you sometimes think your favourite is the best?

I don't know, I guess it depends if the reason something is my favorite is because I think he's the best. Ok, nevermind this, you know I'm just stupid, and now I feel stupid and confused By the way, why did you change your screen name?

Yeah, you've confused me as well.
Weell... I felt it was time for a change. Tapion has had the lime-light for a long time now and I thought it was about time to let another of my heros represent.
