Does anyone here belong to a band of any description? I'll be starting one in the next few months, so I was wondering if anyone has any tips for a rocker-to-be.

Does school band count? Eh...I wasn't in the school band anyway.. I've always turned down offers to be in a band. No one that asked me was really serious about it playing music anyway. It was mostly just the "lets be in a band to get chicks" thing. Which, actually, works.. But no, I was never in a band. I know how to jam with musicians though, and I have played "with" bands, I just never belonged to one. Nor do I really care for it either. (I'd probably be the d.ick always threatening to leave ) What instrument do you play? Don't tell me your a singer? Singers suck!!!! ;D

Singers don't always suck. I have been in many bands, of many different styles. Its about 50/50 on Singer Suckiness.

Singers suck!!!! ;D Hey! I sing! Of course it's in a joke band...we recorded a single song but it's so bad I thought twice about putting it online. No one that asked me was really serious about it playing music anyway. Yeah, I've got the same problem...well I guess the fact I don't own the insturment I play (it was just a rental ) screwed things up for me too. But the others in my band were'nt really serious about it either. Well, one of them was.

The strange thing is, I don't actually play anything yet. I'm gonna learn to play the drums, and once that happens, I'm gonna form the band. We'll be playing heavy metal.

Tapions got a good point there. Do you have acess to a van? Because unless everbody in your band is being driven there in seperate vehicles there no way you'll be able to get all of your equipment to a gig. Now that I think about it a van might not even be enough. When I had a full drum set in my van there were'nt even any seats left for me to sit in so I had to sit on the floor and the only other person in the car with me was the person driving it .

Hey, remember that this is only gonna be a small, local band for a few years at least, and that's if it even comes to anything. We're all still in secondary school (or junior high, for Americans) and this is only gonna be a muck - around thing at best until we're old enough to take it further.

If you want to drum, you need a van. Or your parents need a van. Else you are gonna have real trouble getting to gigs.
