I like "Vanilla" too....... I just heard some Star Club music clips. It's pretty good punk. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it's really raw and stuff, just like back the in day. d*mn, I really need to learn Japanese though.. I'll buy a book or something tomorrow. Btw, I was joking about liking Vanilla...

From me because all the torrents are getting hunted down and are going down, and Soulseek has too many rules. I have plenty of stuff on here I try to stay away from the poppy sounds, so I don't particularly like Pierrot, Glay (no offence), and L'arc En Ciel. Which is why I'm not very happy with Gackt at the moment and am trying to make fun of him as much as possible

if you think just the guitar in x-japan is good.....you have NOT heard anything. This is true...while Hide was quite the experienced guitarist I always rooted more for Yoshiki (drummer, pianist, founder of the band). That guy is insane, I've seen him play so hard on his drums and piano during performances that his hands bleed! Then he wraps them up in bandages and goes back for more, that's my kind of musician. That's one of the reasons I suppose X Japan is probably my fav. J-Rock band. But I also tend to listen to a good amount of Mizer (Gackt era) and I'm always a sucker for the Pillows. But bands such as Pennicllin, T.M Revolution, Luna Sea and Do as Infinity are great as well. But lately however, I've been out of J-Rock and found a new interest in Latino music, it's part of my on going project to become familiar with different types of music.

I'm the same way about listening to different music. How do you deal with the language barrier though? Can you understand Japanese well? If I could then I'd definitly give more J-Rock a try, but its just too much to have to look for translations everytime I want to listen to something new. Sometimes it is worth it though.

just because you don't understand exactly what they're saying doesn't mean much. if it sounds good to you, it sounds good. i have translations for some songs, but they don't really matter much. and i never knew that drummer played so hard! now in the couple songs that i've heard from x-japan, the song overall was great, but i just thought that the guitar was amazing. i suppose it's just because it's my favorite instrument

I don't really care what language things are in. As long as the music carries an intriguing message, then I'm absolutely going to be interested. It was actually Malice Mizer that got me into liking classical music again And, come on, there's much more to Malice Mizer than Gackt. Tetsu; Klaha anyone?

Knowing the lyrics, brings this sort of poetical understanding that brings the whole thing together for me. I don't tend to ignore what they are trying to say as much as I used to. But yea, I get what you're all saying. Music is music, a language in itself.

SockPersonPretty much what SonGoshin and Fluffyjuney said about the language barriers are similar to my own, and while I also agree with you in the fact that lyrics bring a clear understanding of the story the musician is trying to tell you, sometimes you can get just as much of a feeling from the singer and the instuments around him by emotion. For example, my Japanese is VERY limited but I was still able to feel Gackt's emotion in "Eege" or his...horniness in "Illuminati" sometimes you just have to find deeper meaning than lyrics. But from telling by your sig you're a Hendrix fan, and when it comes to his music IMO his lyrics are one of the best aspects of his songs and as far as Latin music goes, my Spanish is decent enough for me to understand a majority of the lyrics. @fluffy As much as I try and stay open to the vocal talents and capabilities of different individuals, I simply can't stand Tetsu's repetitiveness and quite frankly...De Memoire isn't exactly one of my favorite Malice Mizer, or J-Rock albums, but it's not like I'm saying that he's horrible as I know alot of Gackt fanboys/fangirls make him out to be but at the end of the day for me it's Gackt >Klaha >Tetsu. Klaha is an awesome singer, but the songs devised by Malice Mizer during the Gackt era did it for me, mainly Merveilles and a ton of awesome singles.

Yes, Gackt is very good in his lyrics and his compositions, but honestly it wasn't quite what Malice Mizer started out with. When they didn't have a vocalist is when you truly got to see "Malicious Misery." It was Malice Mizer in its purest form. When they had Tetsu, I'm sure you think he sounds like a dying cat, but have you heard "Sadness"? Klaha, nor Gackt, could have achieved the emotion that Tetsu did. His lyric style was based on insanity, complete sadness on that insanity, complete insanity on that sadness. Klaha's voice PERFECTLY fit the very opera and classical-like style that Malice Mizer became in Bara No Seidou. At least RECOGNIZE what those two vocalists did for the band.

Klaha's voice PERFECTLY fit the very opera and classical-like style that Malice Mizer became in Bara No Seidou. At least RECOGNIZE what those two vocalists did for the band. No doubt, rest assure I totally recognize and respect what those 2 individuals brought to the group and the sacrifices they gave to make Malice Mizer what it was. I'm well aware of the mission that Mana and Kozi both intended on when they first began the Mizer project, and while Tetsu was the initial singer and his contributions were significant, the general public however will always overlook Tetsu and fall straight into the arms of Gackt, some blame it on his looks and voice. But I think it was because Gackt took Mizer mainstream, which in return...destroyed them, in the end no one cared about how Tetsu strived and gave his all to boost a flegdling Mizer into stardom, or how Klaha was caught in the middle of a sinking ship after Merveilles and did his best to display a more refined and mature Malice Mizer after mainstream media ripped the band apart. All anything anyone talked about was Gackt, Gackt, Gackt, it became quite apparent to true diehard MM fans and Mana that the Gackt era had distorted his true vision of the band and in my opinion Mizer's 4th and final album, Bara no Seidou was Mizer's apology to those loyal few. So do I recognize those singers? You bet. Am I also apart of the mass public that ruined Malice Mizer by overpraising Gackt? Honestly, That I am too. But rest assured, unlike blind casuals of MM music I like Gackt solely on his abilities and the songs that were created during his reign as singer, even if those tunes are a somewhat fallacious Malice Mizer. But in the end Fluff you can't help but see the irony of it all, while the bands music style was to be based of "Malicious Misery" in the end the only thing that was truly that was there tragic trip through hell and back. Wow...I'm kind of depressed now.
