Ha, that was a nice read. Now, that being said, the only Malice Mizer releases I've bought are Ma Chérie (the big yellow book thing), Bel Air (the single), and soon, Uruwashiki Kamen No Shoutaijou. When Gackt worked with the band are the most easy to find ones, so I'll buy those first then work my way out. And I'm not going to buy any jewel cases, oh hell no. I'm going to get as many first presses as my little hands can grab at. ;D

Oh and keep in mind that most of Malice Mizer's best stuff came as singles, and it's true that Genration G or Gackt era is easier to find due to wider distribution by a major record label. Other than that...have fun

I know all of that except for "the singles were the best", I love Tetsu and I love Klaha. I'm just getting what's easier to find now, so that when the first presses appear again I have money for them. I've seen/heard every single MM release except for Verte Aile, that 30 minute silent movie...and from what I hear it's actually pretty good.

i'm not sure on that one trowa. and juney and boss, it's like the whole history of malice mizer you're talking about! i never knew they had so much strife, and unfortuanetly i only know a few of the songs you're talking about. i've listened to a total of 5, my favorite being 'syunikiss.' i thought that the various violn's made the song really vibrant. i also thought 'illuminati' was good, but had no idea it had anything to do with gackt's horniness. so what's more of their story? did gackt screw the band over totally or something? just curious

did gackt screw the band over totally or something? just curious Some would say that. But honestly, no one knows. Gackt ever took a whole chapter in his autobiography to explain it, and it still doesn't make sense. He said basically that it was both his fault AND their fault. But seriously, we can't be sure. Oh, and Illuminati is not completely about horniness...there's actually a very deep story in it. *takes a deep breath* This will take a bit to explain.. The Illuminati, Latin for "The Illuminated", is a conspiracy theory. They will eventually create a New World Order through black magic and violence and sex, controlling the masses through Masons and such. I was actually talking on a serious MM board about this. First, you need to read the lyrics. Be prepared for uh...innuendo or something. What we can assume is that the band has become a part of the Illuminati, or are imitating the Illuminati, and because of what previously happened in the songs before this one on the album (The Hero's girl dying before him), the Hero is trying to seek knowledge (being Illuminated, seeing the light, etc) of how he can resurrect her or something of that sort. Or, you know, feel her....in the...uh...yeah. That sort of thing. Now watch this: And look at this: web.nwe.ufl.edu/~sansone/s03_ulmer/project%20one/images/illuminati.jpgTo climb the Pyramid of Satan, aka climb to climax. A state of true Illumination. In the music video thing, they were all scientists experimenting on themselves with violence and sex, and black magic, to bring the Hero's girl to life again or feel her or something. *cough* Now, Gackt as the Hero, if you could call him that, was raping a dead girl in the video >< Or maybe the dead girl WAS his girl that was killed? I dunno. Pretty crazy stuff..

lol, sory about that seriously, i was at a loss for words. i read all that and i was like, 'whoa.' i mean, so much thought obviously went into this one song, it's mind-boggling you got to admit. but really, you obviously know your malice mizer stuff good, that's impressive. now i'm curious though, do ALL of malice mizer's songs have this much deep meaning?

lol, i see. ;D i also see that most of their song titles are in french, that must be their favorite language or soemthin i bet No....but their favorite style, yes. Mana, in the beginning, wanted the guitars to be intertwining like harpsichords in Bach(okay so just european). The two greatest examples of this are Shiroi hada ni kuruu ai to kanashimi no RONDO (do not ask how i can remember that), and Bel Air. Bel Air particularly sounds very French..but these guys were also open in their music. Listen to the Voyage album (or even Merveilles, no song is alike on that album) and you'll see they were DEFINITELY trying to achieve the French sound. If you happen to listen to Premier Amour....just...uh.....LOL. That song is too happysweet for words.

well, out of those songs, i've only listened to bel air. to me, it didn't sound too too french, but i could that it influenced them somewhat, but nonetheless i thought it was pretty good. it reminded me more of the opening to an anime. and i don't mean that music box thing at the beginning, just the rest of the song. but i'll have to listen to the rest of the songs to see how 'hapysweet' that one song is ;D

Premier Amour:
Imagine Gackt dancing around in a white dress with Mana, also in a flowing white miniskirt with super-huge neon green platform shoes and flowers in his hair. Imagine Gackt singing with a twinkle in his eye and his voice as high-pitched and feminine-sounding as possible. Imagine little French synth lines playing by themselves. First love.
omg. if that isn't happysweet i don't know what is.
