Chapter 9 – Shanna, the friendly villager
“You can’t shut me out boy… I will always be here.”
“Shut the hell up!” Jinca screams to himself dropping to his knee’s in tears. “Why wont he leave me be?” he utters picking himself back up. “Where am I anyway.” He wonders noticing he has walked quite a ways away from the others. He found himself walking into a nearby town just a mile away from Puska Village. This town was much smaller as there were only a few shops all together. “I’m hungry.” He thinks to himself as he scours for a place to eat.
There was a few scattered villagers on the streets but quickly retreated to their homes when they caught sight of the strange boy (Jinca) walking through town. Soon it became a ghost town as there was not a single noise to be heard throughout.
He began scouring the homes above the shops searching for people when he turned the corner and bumped into a young woman in her late teens.
“Oh gosh, excuse me miss.” He says as he offers to help her to her feet.
“Would you watch where the hell your going!” She yells while dusting her clothes off with her hand.
“I’m sorry, I don’t really know where I am, I was just looking for a place to eat.” Jinca responds as the young woman notices that he is not from the village.
“Your not from around here are you.. ha ha, well, allow me to treat you to dinner, I don’t see new faces around here too often.
“Oh really? That’s very nice of you miss….”
“Shanna, and no problem, I used to cook for my mother all the time, it will be nice to cook for someone other then myself again.”
“Nice to meet you Shanna; my name is Jinca. So your mother….”
“Yeah, she passed away a few years back and now its only me, but I have learned to live with it just fine. The other villagers have helped raise me when she died so I have nothing to complain about.”
“Its hard when you lose loved ones, trust me, I know.” Jinca responds with a sympathetic smile.
“So what brings you too Bitouma village?” She asks with a smile on her face.
“I guess I just wandered off, I had to be alone. I guess I walked too far and got lost.” He responds laughing a bit to himself.
“I see, by alone you mean you have a few friends with you?” She asks sighing a bit to herself.
“Yeah, we are on our way to the empire of Gyntana. The rest are still in Puska village, or so I think.”
“That’s over a mile away, and you said you just got sidetracked? Strange, well, lets get you something to eat and you can leave right after.” She says smiling a bit once more.
“Sounds great, lead the way.”
The two walked through town and up above a local shop to where her home was located. The town still seemed to be in shambles from the 2000 years of war. Most buildings were destroyed on a regular basis but some were preserved, those made of stone that is. As the two entered, he saw the room filled with scattered items of the old world. She had flags, paintings, furniture, etc.
“Amazing, I have never seen such a collection of ancient artifacts in all my life.” Jinca says as he stares ominously like a child in a candy store.
“He he, yeah, most were passed down through the generations, my family has always been collecting the old items of the past world, the world before this hell that is.” She stops as she stares out the nearby window.
“It is hard times we live in, but we must percivear. Whats the point of living if we stop trying?” He says bring a smile to Shanna’s face.
Shanna then walks into a nearby room and brings back 2 bowls of soup handing him one.
“Thank you Shanna, I appreciate this, I noticed the other villagers seemed a bit skiddish, you don’t seem anything like them.” He says taking a bite of vegtables and meat.
“Well, like I said, we don’t get visitors much, and these rumors about a group of drifters causing havoc in nearby villages have the people spooked. I don’t believe that nonsense though.”
“But you invited me up for a meal, how do you know you can trust me?” He asks while taking a few more big mouthfuls of food.
“You had kind eyes, tired eyes, I guess I am a sucker for brown eyes.” She says smiling once again as she asks if he wants seconds.
“sure, I could eat all day.” He says laughing once again.
“So whats in Gyntana if you don’t mind me asking?” Shanna asks with curiosity.
“Well, it’s a long story, we have some business to deal with up there.” Jinca says caustiously not wanting to go into detail.
“I understand, its none of my business.” She says as her smile fades a bit filling up Jinca’s bowl once more.
“Please don’t misunderstand, its just painful to talk about it is all. I will tell you if you really want to know.” Jinca says hoping to cheer the girl up.
“That’s ok, you can tell me another time.”
“Another time?” Jinca asks with a strange look.
“Since I am coming with you, you will have plenty of time to tell me about it.” She says with a clever smile.
“Wow wow, I can’t let you do that.”
“Why not??”
“Because its too dangerous. I couldn’t live with myself if someone got hurt.” He says becoming saddened once more.
“But you can’t do this alone.”
“I am not alone, I have friends with me.”
“Then where are they? Why did you wander here on your own?” She asks leaving Jinca silent. He had no answer for the girl. He knew she could get hurt and he would most likely be powerless to stop it. But she is all alone here probably without any friends of her own.
“Okay, but if things become too dangerous…”
“YES” she screams hugging Jinca around the neck. “ I will get my things.”
“Things?” Jinca utters with strange look on his face while the woman runs into a nearby room. Ten minutes later, she comes back with a huge suitcase like bag and drops it to the floor sending a loud bang throughout the room sending dust flying through the air. Jinca’s jaw drops as the bag was nearly the size of himself.
“You need all….that?” He says as sweat drops from his head.
“I gotta make sure I have everything.” She says with a huge smile.

“Luna” Secanya calls out as he finds here perched on top of a rock picking flower petals off a freshly picked tulip. She turns to see Secanya and Shinta walking over to her side.
“You can’t hurt him…. You can’t hurt Jinca.” She says in an angry tone glaring at the two men.
“What…. Why would we hurt Jinca?” Secanya asks confused.
“I heard you two, I heard what you said about him. You two are scared of him, you are scared of what he will become.”
Secanya sighs as he sits next to the distought girl. “Its only a precaution, I will try my best to help him control his inner demon, but he could lose himself to the demon that resides inside him. If that happens, you me, no one can help him then, he will be an empty shell who only lives to kill.”
“But you can’t hurt him, he is scared and he needs a friend.” Luna says as tears fall from her cheeks.
“I know my dear, we will help him, I promise.” Secanya says hoping to comfort the girl. “I just hope he has the power to fight back.” Secanya thinks to himself as he watches a bird circle the air above.
Well, that’s chapter 9, I will write the next chapter sometime in the next few days. Tks for reading and don’t forget to tell me what you think…..
