John Galietta III
age 22
You all know me as Stryyder. I'm a 22 year old college student, studying music. In my free time I enjoy writing, drawing, and playing card games, such in the past as Pokemon, Magic, Dragonball Z and currently Yu Yu Hakusho. I am the co-founder of Animehem message boards with Rider4z and am a well respected mod on YuYuRealms, the biggest Yu Yu Hakusho card game message board. I definitely do not fit in to the niche of "jock", "popular" or even really the typical "nerd" or "geek". I have made my own place, in which I have come through a lot of ridicule and hard times. But through those shine better times. In a standard week I usually just hang out, reading up on current events, keep up with friends both here at home and those I have met online. On the weekends I work at a comic shop, where I have met a great deal of wonderful people that bring a lot of joy to my life. As most of you know I am currently involved with Rider4z, who has brought so much love and feeling to my life I never thought possible. I hold dear every person I know at my work, in my hometown, and here on the internet. Thus when someone comes along and distorts my perceptions, I grow very defensive, and the thoughts in my mind pile up. There are times when those thoughts must be expressed.
First and foremost, this thread is not a flame, this thread is an opinion...MY opinion. The past few posts I read by the ex-member aika0 were, in my eyes, inexcusable. In these he states that he has an immense IQ, that he has a general hatred toward teenage ignorance, and that he came to these forums to learn to "tolerate" that ignorance. I don't care how high someone's IQ score is, that is not a judgement of someones character or social status. In my own studies I have learned, odd that someone of his schooling failed to mention this, that IQ scores are statistically fallable in the first place. In any elementary statistics or psychology class, one of the first things you learn is that the IQ score, while marginally valid, is not an accepted measurement of ones intelligence. The reason is because the way they rate you is with the average current score of all those in your age group. This puts undo bias on that score. Let's say you have the 18-21 age group. You test a set number of people to find the "Mid-level" IQ for that group. Well, who knows who is going to be in that group? They just pick a random number of people, no screening or anything. You could have a group of people with no formal schooling, or maybe 200 of them have some learning disability or mental handicap. this skews the data making the average IQ for that age level lower. This is why IQ testing is not used as an accepted process.
I'll leave the statistics lesson, it gets boring for everyone after a while. I don't presume to know aika0, nor do I presume to know what he has gone through in his life. I would like to know though why, with all of his boasted intelligence, his only recourse when his opinion was challenged was violence. He spoke his mind which I can understand. But then his views are thrown into question, just as he threw posterX's views into question, and his only response is "if you were here, I'll kick your ass". That is the first sign of a weak mind, in my opinion. I abhore violence. As anyone who knows me will tell you, I will not tolerate it. It's such a futile effort. What gets solved? I say something against you and you beat me up. Guess what, I will still stand on what I said, bruised or otherwise, so you have proven nothing.
Fluffyjuney and bigbossadvanced. While I haven't known the latter as long as the former, I have seen both and come to know what they stand for, of sorts. bigbossadvanced has shown a great deal of intelligence in posts I have seen from him, and Fluffy in the time that I've known her, while eccentric at times, has always had an understanding of many things I doubt aika0 will ever experience. Her eccentricity and love for life is something I can only hope aika0 will experience at least once, for even just 5 minutes, in his life. I may not agree with everything they say, but they have a lot of respect in my book, an infinite amount of respect in comparison to someone who hides behind violence, skewed psychology and an IQ score, rather than learn tolerance.
aika0 says that this site is the corner that the "losers" of the world have been brushed into. Rider4z is an amazing artist, Shadow has dreams of working professionally on video games, I myself am studying to be a rounded musician, and countless other members here, all with their own hopes and ambitions. He tells us that we should join the military, to experience what he's experienced. Yes, he served in the military on his own accord, I commend that. But to use it as an excuse to treat people like dirt is simply shameful. I have thought of joining the military, as have many people on this forum probably, but I know it's not where I can do the most good. I'm reminded of a recent show that put down Toby Keith. In the aftermath Toby wrote a song called The Angry American. Blender Magazine criticized him because rather than go over and fight, he writes a song about American Troops taking the fight to terror. Why does he have to join the military? The first time I heard that song, I cried. It was an example of the way this country rather than break in the face of tragedy, builds up its strength, keeps hope alive. If a song can have that effect, I say keep writing, it's called moral. My apologies to anyone from outside the states on that, just a little patriotism showing through.
I will not presume to be a moralist. I won't come out and say "I'm right, your wrong". My point is, there is no excuse, not military, not psychology, nothing, for the statements he has made. This community is one of the most intelligent and fun-loving I have ever been a part of. I have a love for living, for being around those who have the same, and that has been reflected through and through on these few webpages. Thank you to all who took the time to read this.
