^once again, you don't have to tell a story from the beginning...I've said it a gazillion times now...just because DB is the beginning doesn't mean a movie has to start from there...

you are right but they are going to have to intruduce db and what happened how goku new krillin and on.
i think movie will start like this:
first they will show sayin space ship flying and than crashing to the earth with music than they will show Gohan finding goku and they will how how goku was growing up like some man will be talking and movie will start gohan giving goku 4 star dragonball and telling him some stuff. (martialarts) than some time latter goku is with master roshi and they say that gohan has died and they show goku krilling and all that stuff that happeind in db like world turnament like just explain about goku and his powers. Him going to gorila and doing kamehameha and while the man is talking about goku and intruduction they will how some stuff that goku did in db.
than some years latter goku is big and has gohan(kid) and dbz starts.

^once again, you don't have to tell a story from the beginning...I've said it a gazillion times now...just because DB is the beginning doesn't mean a movie has to start from there... No...perhaps the movie shouldn't start from there. I just have my reasons to start from the beginning. The funny thing is that your argument "because it starts from there" is one of the best reasons to start from DB. You know what it is? You guys are affraid it won't be good enough because it doesn't look that impressive as Dragonball Z. That's why you'd rather skip it... Let me tell you again, it's not boring at all BUT you need to shape it up. It has a lot of stuff to talk about...it's just not always about fighting a bad guy... The first movie should show how each character started his yourney or struggle. take Krillin for example...I wrote in my script(just an amature script..)how he was picked on by soms students and was about to leave the Orin temple to study in the West(Master Roshi). Also how Yamcha Started out as a thief but changed into a better person thanks to Bulma... You'll probably laugh about these perhaps "improvised" scenes but it will be those things that makes a good movie...Don't worry..there will be plenty of action..but there are just things you can explain in DB that's not really explained in the series. this is our chance to bring it into live action... Like I said before...just one movie that presents everything before the Z starts...that's what will take the movie to a better level...

You are right, dragonball is where the story begins. And there is so much story to tell. The most important being Piccolo Daimaou, but I believe that Tao Pai Pai, the Red Ribbon Army, and maybe Pilaf should be tied in there some how, even if they have seluded roles. Oh yeah, Pilaf's the man

are you saying(elemdai) that we should get rid of Gohan? That would be insanity! I must not have been clear enough. Having a super-human child as THE MAIN CHARACTER wouldn't work. if the main character is super-human (or saiyan ) then it would make sense that his child would be also. Sorry for my lack of communication.

then they can make him a couple years older...
now that your personal issues are solved, the rest of the world can enjoy dragonball.
seriously, has anyone who is opposed to it starting from the begining ever watched or read ALL OF dragonball. Ill answer for you, no, cause otherwise you would know how cool it is and beg FOX for a movie adaptation.
goku is 15 when he first fights Piccolo Daimao, and then he is 18 when he fight MaJunior at the TenkaIchi Budokai.
whats the BFD, nothin. It is fanboyism that guides some of you, and not praticality. YOU DONT SCRAP A THIRD OF THE STORYLINE WHEN YOU TRY TO MAKE A FRANCHISE, OR CONDENSE IT TO A 10 MIN INTRO. common sense... get some.
people, tell me, what is the GOOD reason you want it to start smack in the middle?

I HAVE read the dragonball manga, and I agree, it is a good storyline, but from the view of a multibillion dollar film studio and the rest of the viewing public that AREN'T dragonball z fans (because you must remember, Fox is looking to make a profit, not just please the dragonball fanbase) and most people do not want to see a little kid or even a teen as the main character in a movie like this. If you have an opinion, please present it in a way that is unbiased and not condescending.

To all those out there who are complaining about the DBZ movie being a DB movie instead. Dragonball and Dragonball Z are part of the same huge 42 part saga in their original format. Only when they were brought to America did the Z show up. It was to keep the younger audience who loved young goku's innocent little battles , from watching adult goku's rather violent, adn bloody battles. So before anyone else moans and groans about DBZ being made into a DB movie, remember: THEY ARE THE SAME STORY!

Im soryy, but as a long-time consumer of anime and person who has been to japan and lived there for some time, i can honestly say that without a doubt, im right. Ive seen the original format on tv there and they are connected

Thank u massoffire. Thats exactly what i said. Same series, different feel. DB did get more adult as goku grew, but it was still called Dragonball originally. THe manga, however, is a different story in that it aslways had rather adult themes adn sexual confusion. ALso, they finally re-released the orginal DB in its full uncut glory. Blood, and nakedness, and boobies oh my!

well i started seeing dragonball in 1995, and the z was already there...so it has nothing to do with america, because only arrived in the states years later
