I hear some rumors that Roland Emmerich may helm the movies. Is there an alternative when this is not gonna happen? Must this person be must of all an fan or a very good action movie maker? Have we someone of both?

There are many directors out there who could do it. Terry Gilliam, Tim Burton, James Cameron, Stephen Spielberg (put away his sci-fi for a moment and look at Schindler's List)...
But I agree that we would all sleep better at night knowning that the director is sort of a fan and at least knows what he's doing....

Truthfully, after seeing Kill Bill finally, Quentin Tarantino would probably do this series a good deal of justice. I was a little on the fence about Tarantino, mostly due to his movies being so violent. Shunning half the audience, I felt DBZ might be doomed to failure if he directed the movie. But I got to thinking, if he was just told to tone the violence down a bit, we could probably have a movie so true to the series that talking animals and dinosaurs wouldn't be a problem if they were in the movie. Just look at Kill Bill. Some of the stuff in there was so unbelievable, but because it was a Tarantino the film did really well, especially with his fans. If this were to happen with DBZ, a new fan base would be introduced to the world we have grown to like.

At least Last time I said that, and everyone began to say like "what the hell are you thinking?". Anyways, yeah, I think that if he just tones the violence a bit, he would be perfect. Even if he doesn't know the series (but he probably does), he knows about anime, and knows how anime is supposed to feel and look. When I saw some of the fights on Kill Bill, I couldn't avoid thinking of DBZ... Anyways, another good directors might be James Cameron or Ridley Scott...I'm not sure about Tim Burton for a movie of this kind though...

I don't know about Tarantino...his stuff's a little too artistically independent.
Though, it would be cool if he had some Western standoff music when Goku and Vegeta were about to fight.
I don't know about having the Wu Clan do a bad guy's theme..hmm...

The thing with Tarantino is that he can make the movie feel like you're watching anime even though you're watching live action...
In Kill Bill he added humorous parts even a lot of the movie was dramatic and other parts had lots of action, and it felt right...I didnt't get the feeling that the humorous and dramatic parts didn't belong in the movie.
That's what would make every DBZ fan happy, have the humorous parts that won't feel weird on the movie while the most part of the movie will be action and drama...

Yeah, I agree. And Tsunami that is how I felt too. I felt Tarantino might screw the movie due to his originality. But you have to remember that Tarantino has always had this blank canvas. With DBZ he would be working off of something created already. And Tarantino knows how to please the fans so I doubt he would try and plaster western music into the movie.

Yes..well, it's just hard to imagine the outcome of something non-original made by Tarantino.

There has to be a first time...if not...there's more directors, but for me, Tarantino would do a great job if he was given the chance and accepted.

I can understand what you are saying- but I almost don't want it to be like an anime. Keep with the story line, but leave the stupid humor out. Anime tends to be overeacted. It works in a cartoon, but it wouldn't do to well in a live action movie..
