Narutaru and serial experiments Lain are quite psychological. But, the one that has had the greatest psychological effect on me is Neon Genesis Evangelion. Shinji keept whining so much that I just wanted to reach into the screen and strangle him. ;D One of my friend said..... I really recommend NGE to anyone here who wants to watch a CRAZYYYY anime. EDIT: Ohh I also didn't really understand the ending of NGE

Voices of a Distant Star is very good and will leave you thinking a lot.
Through the travail of the ages, mankind thought that it was alone in the universe. That it alone was the sole dominant existence in the galaxy. In the year 2039, mankind learned just how dangerous that assumption would prove to be. A mysterious and formidable alien race known as the Tarsians appeared and dealt humanity its baptism by fire on a cosmic scale. It is now 2048, and the Earth has compiled an overwhelming amount of military resources in order to launch a counterattack against the alien aggressors that devastated the Martian expeditionary force. Noboru Terao and Mikako Nagamine have just completed their final exams and are now busy planning their future together. This teenage couple were planning on attending the same High School together, not only to participate in the same moments this time of their lives had to offer, but to simply be together. Unfortunately for these star-crossed lovers, the tides of war are conspiring to tear them from one another.
Mikako has been selected to serve in the U.N. Army’s retaliatory fleet and destined to pursue the Tarsians to the ends of the universe. With only text messages over their cell phones to connect them, can Mikako and Noboru’s love for one another endure, even as time and space pulls them farther apart?

Here's the description of Neon Genesis Evangelion. In the year 2015, half of the human race is dead, and the survivors face a terrifying last judgment from giant biotechnology experiments called Angels. Within Tokyo-3 and the headquarters of the secretive organization called NERV, a special United Nations agency. A handful of teenagers are trained to pilot the colossal super-entities known as Evangelions and battle the Angels on their own terms... whatever the cost to their minds and souls. Shinji Ikari, whose father heads the NERV team that developed and maintains the Evangelion., is thrust into a maelstrom of battle and events that he does not understand. Forced to plumb the depths of himself for the courage and strength to not only fight, but to survive... The End Of NGE The end of the Neon Genesis Evangelion left many questions as to the fate of NERV, the Children, the Angels, and many other plot factors unanswered, unexplained, or otherwise hanging. To answer a legion of now befuddled Evangelion fans, Gainax remade the ending into a two-part movie known as Death and Rebirth which was to supersede episodes 25 and 26 of the television series, which then led to this movie, Death and Rebirth itself being recreated into part one of The End of Evangelion. It begins much in the same fashion, with the final Angel already having been defeated, and the current enemy switching to humanity itself as SEELE unleashes its own plan for the Evas and NERV...and indeed for the entire human race. What role will Shinji play in this ever-tense situation, as NERV gets chewed to pieces by SEELE's crack commandoes? Will Gendo's plan swallow up all of humanity? Will Hideaki Anno ever figure out how to end an anime? These questions and more will be answered in what looks to be the final installment of Evangelion. But at what price? Neon Genesis Evangelion; Death and Rebirth Originally a collection of clips from the Neon Genesis Evangelion TV series, Death was created as a precursor to the re-worked ending of the series. Rebirth was intended as that reworked ending but after production overruns became only the first half of the first episode of The End of Evangelion, with some minor differences. Over time, two newer director's cuts of Death were produced, each including new footage not seen in the series - these were called Death (True) and finally Death (True)^2. Note that despite containing clips from the series, Death (True)^2 & Rebirth should be seen after the series itself to be fully understood. And Narutaru The popular work of Kitou Mohiro serialized in the monthly magazine "Afternoon", NARUTARU, will be broadcasted in Kids' Station this summer. Tamai Shiina, a cheerful girl, met a weird star-shaped creature during her visit to the island where her grandparents lived, during her last summer of elementary school. "Because the star is round," Shiina gave a name: "Hoshimaru" – the round star – to that creature, which could fly to the sky. Starting with that, Shiina met other boys and girls who also befriended with Hoshimaru's friends. What exactly was the real shape of Hoshimaru's body? The world scale magnificent story begins. *** thanks to mtenshi for description & translation *** * Note from supers: after episode 3 the story changes drasticly. Thanks to AnimeNfo for the descriptions

i'd have to say ghost in the shell. i think it's sociological becuase it's like your either fully human, or your a cyborg. it really makes you think that maybe this could happen in the future, a little scary too when you think about it. theline between machine and man is so blurred, that humanity is given many more definitons in the movies and series
