If you ain't Christian, let alone Catholic, I see no reason why it makes you unaware to not know who this guy is. In the past year Mr. Pope has had about 3 front page stories in British newspaper and 2 of these have been about his death. David Beckham is more widely known than the Pope.

well i think the reason most people know about him is because he's the 3rd longest pontiff to ever reign, plus he was seen in general audiences by more than 17.6 million people! and those are only people that have seen him live

I'm sure that the Polish were happy and proud. If I had at least 50% of something in my blood, and the next Pope was that, I would be somewhat proud. But, I'm a mutt...

Even though you may disagree with the Roman Catholic Church, you have to respect a person who has devoted his entire life to God. In order to make the world a better place, the Pope has served a meaningful career to spread faith in the world. I know he has found peace and a better place.

^quite right, quite right.
I've seen him work, he was a very good man, and actually a really funny guy.
And I think that he has been suffering for a long time now, he's worked really hard his whole life, I think he deserves to finally rest in peace.

john paul II was different for many reasons. for one, he was what a pope should truly be, an evangelizer. he made more trips than any pope visiting over 125 countires. he was also the first pope to revise the catechism in over 450 years and he spoke about 8 languages fluently. he was also the first pope to visit a synagouge, a mosque, and met with buudhist and hindu leaders. he wished to unify all peoples of different faiths plus, he was a loving person who just wanted peace.

I know im a little late, but this guy was really something. I heard that some dude shot him, and the pope just said "I forgive you" now that is tolerance..well i really dont know how to explain it.
But he was one of a kind, its a shame he died.
R.I.P
