Well, I don't want to start trouble but you can't please everyone. Sometimes, as the saying goes, life isn't fair. But in general, the prosper of Democracy far outweighs the cons. In the process of Democracy, although not everyone can be pleased, the choices are still made by the people and not of one person or administration. Anarchy isn't possible because it's not that it wouldn't work, but that anarchy could NEVER happen. Humans, even if anarchy happened, would still form smaller governments in order to govern the community. In order to prevent chaos, some form of governing body would arise to put some form of order to control unlawful individuals. But if anarchy was to happen, the break between an ordered system would be more crazy and unfair than a capitalist democracy ever would. How could things be fair if society was based on no laws and every person was for his or her self? Those that we care for and those who would need help wouldn't receive it in an UNFAIR anarchy.

Ahem, time for my little rant.
Democracy, despite having MAJOR flaws, is still the only political system in the world that can exist without mass genocide occuring. Nazism, Facism and anarchism are three examples of failed political systems. All lead to violence, war, revolt, and evil. A dictatorship, even if the elader seemed just and fair to begin with, wouldn't work because as the old saying goes: Absolute power corrupts absolutely. I'm reminded of an episode of the kids program RECESS. Where one of the title characters, one Gus Grizzwald, was chosen to replace the king of the playground for only a few days. He was very timid and shy(although a gentle and fair soul) to begin with. But after realizing what he could do with his power he became ruthless and began making laws that were good for him, but terrible for the kids on the playground(cookie taxes, a statue in his honour, a little jingle to his name.). Now, this may be only a kids program. But the message was correct. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Sorry, socialism doesn't work.
Even if the dictator is just things will go wrong. Here's why:
Let's say you have a small community that is socialistic. Everyone in this community contributes something. Socialism says that everyone is paid the same. Now let's say that one person works harder than his neighbor. Socialism says that those 2 should recieve the same wages despite the fact that one person worked harder than the other.
That's why democracy that gives free enterprise is the best solution. It's because people are paid depending on what they do and how much they work.

You are way too... I don't know, but it seems to me that your mind is locked in bias and predujice. You can't seem to understand that someone doesn't believe in and hold sacred the same things that you do. It seems that you can't accept that. Thats... disturbing.. No, your wrong I am simply stating that everytime the topic of god (religion, pope, etc), you have to make an off the wall comment. Which is fine, if you made sense. The pope, rather you care for his beliefs, have to recognize the man as a great or influential man because he was. I hated everything Stalin and Hitler stood for, but I knew who the bastards were and what they did. I don't care if you believe, I like to discuss things and speak my views as you do. Nothing more, nothing less.... With that said. I also don't like the idea of socialism either.

You can't seem to understand that someone doesn't believe in and hold sacred the same things that you do. It seems that you can't accept that. Thats... disturbing. The way to give anarchy a stronger chance of working would be to size it down. Bigtime. I don't think I was clear earlier, my bad, I wasn't saying anarchy wouldwork. I would definitely prefer it over modern day options though... When you try and govern a whole country, things go crazy. Prime examples being Russia and USA. It can't be done, you can't please everyone, you can't spread things fairly. Ok guys- time for me to say my little part in this. BC- You didn't have to go say that he was way to punk, or whatever it was that you said. Whether you're a punk or not doesn't have anything to do with the way your political influence is. Tapion- You always say that we are predjudicial whenever we get mad at you for your views. But, at the same time, you say that you don't like Christians. So no matter what your side is on the matter, we are all at times predjudicial, at one time or another. Whenever you say that being Catholic or Christian is a flaw- that's predjudicial. Just like saying that a punk is the way he is, because he is a punk. You can't accept the fact that we like being Christian- we can't accept the fact that you dislike the religion. Blah blah blah- the list goes on. DelaRocha- I agree with Orwell's dream of a society. That's one reason why I liked Animal Farm- it makes all of it's points clear to me. Everyone in my class hated it because animals were forming a society, lol. Alright- Whether I am left or right winged? Hmmmm- let me see. * I am surrounded by people who have been in a union for most of their working lives. * I don't like abortion, but at the same time, I know that sometimes mistakes are mixed up with complications. - If you got pregnant because you were easy to spread em', then I think that abortion is wrong. You obviously thought that you were old enough to get laid- so that means that you are old enough to have a baby. - If you were raped, then you do what you feel you need to do. It wasn't something that you wanted (obviously). But, I would reccomend that you told someone that day or the next so you could take the pill. * I don't like the thought of gay marriage, or being gay in general. I am Christian, yes. That has a part in it. But, just because I don't like the idea of it, doesn't mean that my opinions coming from religion, should mess up someone's right to live the way they want. (Seperation of church in state- I am a firm believer in that) * I think that the economy is crap (yeah- coming from a 15 year old, right?). The gas prices are going up, I hate Walmart, and Jeb Bush can suck on my metaphorically speaking b*lls. So, out of the two, I am probably a left wing...

I hate politics threads... everyone speaks their mind, which is great. But... nearly everyone always gets the wrong end of the stick and for no apparent reason starts arguing and getting angry.

So, uh... Does anyone know who's running for the 2008 election? ;D The only names I heard were John McCain and Clinton...Hilary that is! Oh, I also heard Condoleeza Rice mentioned as well. But I would never vote for her. I would sooner vote Sloth from The Goonies into office than Rice
