And they weren't flying around in Hero- they glided in the air, but they were falling gracefully.
Like the fight over the lake- it showed that martial arts wasn't just a fighting technique, but a style. It showed other people who aren't into martial arts that it isn't just "Steven Segal" shyt- it can actually mean something more than just heavy hits...

The only place where human beings fly and make it look good is DBZ. In the Matrix, It just looked so...fake

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon did have a flying scene- but Hero didn't.
