When I said dodge I probably should have said avoid Anyone can avoid being shot , especially a single shooting gun. By moving in confusing tactical ways, The offender would have a harder time aiming and making a successful shot. Samurai could learn to do this also , they train to move fast , and when given the chance strike soon and hard. But yes I understand they are human and don't have powers like in some anime and movies.
A m-16 on the other hand is very hard to avoid. Soldiers today have a little chance at avoiding being shot ,when the enemy can aim in a general area shooting a gun that fires 100=200 rounds a minute in any direction. possibly hitting you with one.

I dont lie. Now BACK ON TOPIC. When I got stab for the 1st time , I was shock But then I took that stab as an advise and brought it with me in every fight. In each fight I battle I remember "Hell no I dont want to get stab" that makes me be more keen and aware when I fight , its awesome how something bad can turn into something good.

Ummmmm- a samurai fight? I think that those would probably be illegal to just do. I hope so anyway. Stick with kendo... It's just a piece of wood! *bashes brother in the face with a kendo stick* So useful, they are...

My teacher wants me to go into K1 fighting. I must be pretty good when it comes to fighting... -_- what does that have to do with Samurai I know I mentioned it , but I said with weapons, the sword. Also to be a true samurai you have no know how to study. After a fight my sensei asked me "Whats his favorite leg?" Favorite punch? Weakness? Strength? Favorite punch? Favorite kick? Favorite stance? Favorite swing? Favorite stab? If I can answer all those questions, then I learned nothing from the fight.

But, I like training in hand-to-hand more than anything else. Why?- because you aren't always going to have a weapon of choice. But, you will always have your own- might as well make it the perfect weapon... ;D But, I am going to start training with swords. Because, you get to control something that is not a part of you. When you learn how to do that, it does become a part of you, and you no longer control it- you move with it, and feel its flow....

I know how to fight without my sword as well. I train hard with or without the sword and take the victory with my bare hand and grasp it. Then sword is nothing like kicking and punching, it takes harder training , more effort, more awareness , more skills, pretty much more in everything then hand on hand fighting. Flowing with a sword? Did you ever swing a sword? You can not just flow, you will spill and slice yourself, you need to focus and dont dose off.

Just because you are "flowing" with something, doesn't mean that you are dosing off. You can feel the movement of the sword, and you know right where it is going to hit. It is like, the sword is alive- like it is leading you. My friend has been training with swords since he was ten. He is 18 now, and is well experienced. His master taught him that sword fighting wasn't just about hacking at some random thing- it was an art. You had to make your own rhythm. You shouldn't use your sword as a weapon and treat it like a piece of metal- but treat it like a prized possession and use it like it was your own flesh. So, as he progressed in his training, he began blind folding himself to better understand the sword. He did this for three years! He knew what every hit should sound like, what every swipe should ring- he makes it sound beautiful. And, I wish that I could show you some video of him at a tournament- Tap would love it. So- it isn't me who doesn't know about swords and the training involved. You make it sound like it is all about the fight, when in reality, it is about your own mentality, and how you can become the most elusive combatant. That's why in kickboxing, it doesn't matter how big and muscular you are- it is all about you predicting their point of contact, the flaws in their swing, and what they are thinking. You can't just throw down and call it a win...

Your friend this , your friend that , Like I said you cant expericence the true feeling of a samurai unless you actually go out there. I have been train since I was 5 and , not american training but the real Japanese samurai training, which is more brutal and intense. Samurai and fighting is all my life, I know the feeling and reaction, and the word "flowing" doesnt cut it. Maybe intense When you make your own rhythm it doesnt always work so it I was you when you start off , take a form from a higher rank then with added skills create your own unique Style that is easy for you to understand and hard for others to understand. In Japan, if you disrespect your sword , it is taken away and you have to earn it back. Its totally different in America then Japan as well. In america you can go buy a sword and use it, but in Japan theres a whole ritual on earning your sword and it takes a while. I agree, without your eyes, its easier to focus and when being a samurai and using the sword you need ALL the focus you need can look the the right and swing left cant you! And I believe in my other post I mention the mentally skill for a samurai , so dont say I didnt Samurai isnt much about predicting then hitting, its studying...focus...then strike and the weak spot!

^You know, I get the feeling that you're trying to make me sound stupid. Yeah- I am talking about my friend who is experienced. That doesn't mean that my opinion should be thought of as pointless because I haven't "studied" the art of the samurai.
